The Moth Infestation

Before I begin this tail I do believe a brief explanation is required. You see I live in the country and within my back yard there are 3 pecan trees ( we pronounce it pecon here). Every fall we gather all the pecans that fall from those trees. I use the pecans gathered in my rum cakes and other recipes and we also give some of them away. Well somehow a moth must have laid quite a few eggs on or in one of the pecan buckets that we left in the house because they are everywhere. There is at lease one or two in each room and last night when I turned out all the lights and only had my laptop on I was bombarded with two rather large moths. They fluttered and flitted all around my computer and landed on me , not to mention getting in my hair. Normally I would have found this rather amusing but I was rather worn out and wanted to work on whatever it was that I was doing at the time, so it was rather irritating. I kept having to shew them away and one eventually landed on my laptops speaker and just sat there for a while.

I think Pie cat may have been hunting them but I am not sure. She has more than likely caught quite a few by now because there numbers seem to have dwindled a bit. I tried to sick her on a dirt dobber today but she seemed rather uninterested, maybe she was full of moths but I am not sure.

I am currently waging war against my movie studio that is refusing to open, I hope to get it working soon in order to cut together a neat video for my SL friend Kazz. It is her Birthday today. Hopefully I will get another  post up before tomorrow , if not I will have it up asap. It shall be epic win :)

It is a metal purse. I don't know why but I absolutely love metal and box purses. They are awesome and sturdy and pretty. I love how intricate the designs are, plus if someone tries to hurt you can use them as weapons.

The Jewelry Party Update :]

I am happy to be able to tell you that my jewelry party went wonderfully today and though I did not have all that many people show up , I still made a nice profit. Which is great because I had not been able to sell much jewelry in quite a while, so I am very happy. Everyone seemed to enjoy the goodies I baked, mom could not stop nibbling on them. Overall it was a good day and I can always use one of those. I am sorry to say that I do not have any pictures of today's events due to my camera being dead.

Hopefully I am going to be able to be in the shop a lot more in the coming weeks. I really need to start doing more jewelry work. I have been slacking off a bit. I have some good news on that too, I received an order for 3 necklace and earring sets today, so that will give me a nice project to work on.

I will update more when I think of something else to write, for now I am going to eat some subway samiches.

OMG The Jewelry party is tomorrow ... I just baked food for it

I spent quite a few hours baking food for the party tomorrow. Here is a sneak peak as to what will be there for you to nibble on.

My All Time Favorite Artists of Fur Affinity

I have been a little afraid of doing this to be honest. I am afraid I will leave someone out or annoy them. If you feel left out I am really sorry.

My favorite artist of all time has to be Noxidium. I love her style , its a mix of Alice in wonderland, Alice in Zombieland and a really good acid trip. Her art never fails to make me smile , I love it even when it gets rather gory. The art she creates is extremely detailed and I swear its like once you check out her art you can't get enough of the amazing, talented, and totally awesome Noxidium.

The next artist or rather artists I would like to mention are Camocat and ReddyWolf. They are sisters and in growing up together there art styles share some similarities. Both of there styles are utterly adorable and don't get me started on the chibis, they make me smile every time. I also think its really cool that they are both animal rights activists and I think we need more people like them to give us a good example as to how we should treat our four legged friends.

Another very awesome artist is Spiralofvertigo his art is extremely original. I love the use of color and he does some insect artwork which really makes me smile. I love insects so the more insect inspired art the better, not to mention spiral is from the same state as I am. All of his work is highly detailed and wonderful to look at. If you have some time I totally recommend that you check out his gallery of epic win.


I can't forget the lovely Topaz, she is a local fur in my area and one of my best friends. She does a little bit of everything from drawing to jewelry making to costuming. She never fails to make me smile. Her artwork is beautiful and totally worth a look. Her Jewelry takes a bit more of an earthy feel than mine does due to her extensive use of natural stones, some of which she polishes and cuts herself. She also does chain mail and wire wrapping , makes clay pendants, and casts some things in resin. She is truly an original artist that should be getting way more attention than she currently is. My cat named Pie is as weird as I am

Pie Cat , where do I even start?  Well for one thing she has her own unique style.

She tends to pose for pictures and can be a bit of a ham.

Oh and did I mention she LOVES water ...like I said i have a weird cat.

But no matter how weird she is, she is totally perfect for a weird girl like me. Thought sometimes she does steel my cereal or my yogurt or even my grapes, I love her no matter what.

Second Life is a SOCIAL GAME!

In saying this I mean that while playing Second Life (SL) you are around real people that are also sitting behind there computer screens and chatting with you either via voice or text and therefore SL is a social game. So here is what I have to ask. Why are there so many people on SL that claim to be antisocial when by default they are being social because they are talking to people while playing a game? Why do these people that define themselves as being antisocial able to be social by playing a game? Is it because the game itself takes away the social stigma that they feel while being out in public? The whole thing confuses me. I can understand that second life makes being around others a bit easier because you are not actually close to them, for all you know they could be on the other side of the globe. So I suppose that not having the people in the same room with you could make you feel a bit less uneasy. Either way I think that SL is amazing because it allows people to come together as one huge online community and congregate and enjoy each others company.

Something amazing that I have witnessed due to SL would have to be how the game allowed a mute person to speak through text to those around her. I found it to be quite inspiring.

Changes for the better, Happy tears

So as of late I know I have been a total downer and for that I am sorry. Today I feel like being happy and doing some of the things that I do best. Today I want to bake, and maybe be a bit artistic and then later on I shall get on second life and bug all my friends. Oops I just made a really bad joke imo because my avi is a bug on SL.

Some more great news:
Scot has decided to help me get a bank account so that I can sell jewelry online and purchase of said jewelry will be a lot easier because I will be able to have a paypal. So That in and of itself makes me happy.

Randomness: Today I realized that our newer microwave is a lot stronger than the old one. I somehow managed to turn my microwave omelet into something resembling bread. I think I invented a new food today albeit rather tasted funny. It still tasted like egg but it was dry and needed a lot of milk to chase it down. Weird breakfast was weird but oddly not too bad.

ONWARD! to house work and baking. I will post pictures of my odd creations later in the day if I get a chance.

My Friends are amazing

They read my last blog and came to the rescue and for that I am eternally grateful. I love you all and thank you so much you have helped me more thank you know. Earlier today thanks to all the yelling and unhappiness in the house I was painfully depressed and scared. My friends have proven to me once again that I should have faith  the world and that things will get better. You are all amazing each and everyone of you. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I love you all so much and I am currently so happy I could cry.

He came home and all hell broke loose

Originally I was really scared for my dad when he went into the hospital and I wanted him to get better. I did not think that anyone deserved to be in that much pain or to go through all that sickness. He had food poisoning. Though I hate to admit it the longer he is here the more I regret feeling sorry for him. He has not stopped yelling or being mean since he got home and is not in fact threatening to take my computer away again for like the thousandth time. He gets mad and takes things away for no reason and now that I am 20 I could easily go to the police and have him arrested for it but I just don't feel like going through all that crap. He however has just said something that may give me a glimmer of hope as to keeping my computer and making him eat his own words.

He said If I earn $50 by Sunday using nothing but google adsense I can keep my computer. 


So please if you don't mind and I would be forever grateful if you could click the ads on my page. I really want to keep my computer and show him that google adsense is a good way to earn money. Dad is sick and today is a big weird mess

Dad has been sick since yesterday , he has a tummy bug. I hope he feels better soon. Tonight my entry may not have all that much interesting info in it. I am currently DJing at Club AF. I swam earlier today at my awesome friend Pam's house and now my brain and body are all worn out. So I will post more of an interesting blog tomorrow hopefully. Everything is kinda weighing on my shoulders at the moment so I am not thinking in an organized manner. Then again do I ever think in an organized manner?

I will post something a bit better tomorrow hopefully, if I get a chance.

Harry Potter ( the newest and last movie)

I went to watch it tonight with my awesome other half and we had a great time. We saw it in 3d ( imax was sold out when we got there). It was awesome and I am not going to be giving any spoilers away. But the movie was great and I really enjoyed the plot. However I will admit that I did not read any of the books so I am sure those of you that have will most likely hold different opinions than me. I enjoyed the graphics and the overall look of the movie and also the plot. It is definitely a must watch. Also the new Green Lantern movie is epic win and I loved it too. I am waiting for the Captain America movie to come out because I really want to see it.

Internet Window Shopping and a Jewelry Sale

Wow this morning I was all energentic and rareing to go. Well, its 2:58pm now and I want to crawl back into bed. I have made quite a few pieces of jewelry today and I will make another post including pictures of them when I get home. Mainly because the internet here is crappy, however it is giving me enough speed to look on etsy and think geek. I decided to take a break and do something I call internet window shopping. Currently I am looking at Android themed items ( plushies and phone cases) because I have an android phone that I love and the mascot is adorable.

I want this, the only thing that would make it better was if it had a little compartment to store things inside it.

Oh and yes this means three blog posts in one day. Yay!

The Pains of Planning a Jewelry Party

Honestly its making my brain hurt. So far I have created an event on Facebook, written several journals on Fur Affinity, invited everyone that I could think of on every site I could think of, made fliers to post around town, booked the church fellowship hall for the event, and im still trying to think of other ways to get the word out. Not to mention I need to pick out what recipes I plan on making for the snacks I promised to have for my guests. What bothers me is that even though I invited so many people on Facebook I have maybe 4 people that actually have confirmed that they will be there. It kind of makes me sad and I am hoping that I will be pleasantly surprised when the big day arrives.

Something that irritates me is that last week I had 133 people in my jewelry group and now I have 93, It honestly makes me sad.

So it is 6:51 at I write this and I am about to head to the shop to make more jewelry and help my mom out with the shop. Today you might get 2 blogs because I will be taking pictures of the jewelry I create today. We are waiting on a new modem to arrive at the shop sometime soon and if it ever gets here, I plan on hosting jewelry shows and will be posting links to those here too.

Second Life fun and my new book from Sams

Ok so on the game called Second Life I am known as Sheba Metaluna and I DJ for a few clubs. The first club I ever DJ'd at is called Club Atlantian Fur and I absolutely love it . It is peaceful and relaxing and the people are really sweet. I attempted making my first desktop video while dancing and DJing at this club.

I think it turned out fairly well considering it was my first attempt at an entertaining video.

Now I have began to also DJ at another club called Club Sin. Despite the name it is a rather pleasant place with kind staff and patrons. I also made a video while DJing at this club and it is much better than the one above because I has a crowd that began to grow during the videoing process. I tried to get everyone to stay in a somewhat organized line and I think it turned out fairly well. Also the video quality gets better near the end because I discovered that I could make the quality of the video higher by adjusting a few things on the video software. Here is the video for your viewing pleasure and yes I am a cicada in this one ( not a bee blast you XD).

I love books but I am a weird girl so I don't like your run of the mill kind of books. They have to be weird or crazy or a little scary or be about something that makes you go " huh..what now ?!?!! O3O". So as of Monday I now have a new book to dive into. It is called Weird Carolinas ( imagine that lol) and it is all about the legends and best kept secrets and general weird stuff in North and South Carolina. I love it and though I have not finished reading it I had to blog about how neat it is. Oh and another weird fact, its from Sams Mart ( the big store that sells everything in bulk and you have to be a member to get in and such).

( Yes I am a nerd thanks for noticing.)

Thoughts from a Hairdressers Daughter (on annoying people)

Ok so today only reinforced the fact that I never want to be in the same field as my mother. Once again she got a call from a customer after hours wanting her to come in way after closing time. Her customers make little sense to me. They call her on her day off and want her to come in no matter what she is doing and they have the tendency to walk all over her. There is one lady in particular that bothers me, she pretends to have an extremely low tolerance for pain and if my mother so much as tugs on a hair the wrong way she makes a fuss and if you bump into her or brush up against her while she is there, she acts like you have beaten her with a stick or something. It is possibly the most confusing thing I have seen go on in the shop.

Oh and during my time working in the shop I have managed to meet the MOST irritating human being alive ..I mean he would make a saint cuss. He is a 18 year old child of my mothers customer ..he has autism ( which I know is no laughing matter) but his mother does not control him at all. He opens drawers, goes in the employee only room, he even opens the cash register and now its even worse ..he has my phone number and he has been calling me and calling my house. He is driving me crazy and scaring me because he actually was going to try to walk to my house from the shop the last time he was there with his mom. While he was there he repeatedly called the house ( after the first call i refused to answer the phone anymore). I told him that I was not decent and did not want him to come over, after he hung up I later learned that after he would call the house even when i did not answer he would go back into the shop and tell his mom and my mom that I was saying that it was ok for him to come over and other lies too. I am really not sure how to deal with him , I am trying to ignore him and hope that he will leave me alone. he has even tried asking me out .. to which I reply " I have a boyfriend " and I do , going on 3 years now too. It is to the point that I do not even want to go to work on Tuesdays if I know that his mother is scheduled that day. Oh and after the whole incident with him calling me and making a fuss about wanting to walk to my house ( luckily his mom said no and my mom agreed with her) he actually started messing with the back of the tv trying to see if it played dvds and he also threw a huge fit and scared my mom.

I wish my moms customers would think of how they would like to be treated and treat her with the same respect they desire and if they could also control there kids ..that would be nice too. oh and if they could keep there kids from acting like crazed stalkers that would be even better.

Hello World! I am a Carolina jewelry maker

Hello there, my name is Ashley and i am the creator of GoldDragon Jewelry. I have been making jewelry for a little over 3 years now and I really enjoy it. I work out of my mothers hair salon in our little home town. It is a very peaceful place and enjoy living here. My hope is that one day I will be able to own my very own shop, a little art/craft shop. I have always though that it would be wonderful to have a small shop that incorporated some of my best friends who are also crafters although now that dream seems to be very far off on the horizon.

I have decided to give blogging a try, in the simple hope that it will increase my client base and maybe organize my brain a little at the same time. Putting thoughts onto paper has always been an effective way to clear my head and relax.

I will say that at the moment I am rather nervous due to an upcoming event that I will be planning all by myself. I am planning a Jewelry party to try to move some of the items that I have created but in this economy I do not have high hopes for it. I will be happy if i sell anything at all .

But on a lighter note at least i will get to talk to some pretty awesome people during the party and I will be baking some goodies for it. I love to bake
